What kind of cheddar are you?
Meek and Mild?
Sharp and Wild?
Aged British?
Or maybe blue?
What kind of cheddar are you?

What kind of cheddar are you?
Meek and Mild?
Sharp and Wild?
Aged British?
Or maybe blue?
What kind of cheddar are you?

*to the tune of “Daisy, Daisy”
Cream cheese
Cream cheese
Jarlsburg and gouda too
I’m half crazy all for the love of you
There won’t be a stylish platter
I’ll eat you so fast it won’t matter
And you’ll look sweet
Between my teeth
On this cracker I got just for you

I submit to you
This thing is true
You’ll probably be like, “duh”
The best of things
This good life brings
They all begin with “Cha”
Chocolate – check!
Cherries – check!
Plus, obviously, CHEESE
Of course chubby-cheeked
children – so hard
not to squeeze
But not you Chad.
Hey I hope you are enjoying my daily cheese poems. Let me know by leaving a comment or sharing with friends. These poems aren’t just about cheese – they are about celebrating the simple pleasures and shedding the pressure to do and go and do and go. I hope they inspire you to do more things you love – especially silly things that someone with a giant stick up their, well, something, would say is a giant waste of time. I hope you do more of those things.

Can I just – just be
Here in this place of peace
Everything calm, quiet, clear
Don’t make me leave
Don’t drag me screaming back
And if you must return to speak to me
Return with snacks
I hope my cheese poems are a reminder to enjoy the lovely, the slow, and the silly every day ❤

Moon so big and round
White like a big wheel of cheese
I want to eat it.
Thanks so much to Mel for contributing this awesome cheese Haiku

If you like pizza you
better put some cheese on it
If you like nachos you
better put some cheese on ‘em
If you live pretzels
you better put some cheese on ‘em
oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh
CHEEEEEEEEEESE!

Cheese, glorious cheese!
Harvarti and Gueyere!
You don’t have to say please,
You can eat it in a big chair.
Brie, Gouda and Colby-Jack!
Is never out of the question!
It doesn’t matter what kind you snack!
It’s self-expression!
Thank you so much Esther for contributing your beautiful cheese poem to the Poems About Cheese collection!

You live in a culture obsessed with productivity
If you’re not checking some productivity box you’re being lazy
And I worry that “self care” is a way
For us to rest for an hour or a day
But to still call that time “productive”
You were doing self care, so you were being “productive”
But I want you to run screaming from this mentality
I want you to lean into a different reality
You are not made to be a productivity machine
You’re a unique human with unique needs
Your worth can’t be measured by how you spend your time
You are valuable right now – right now you are fine
Don’t take time to rest just to check another box!
Take time out because you need and want a walk
Because your body is saying it needs a minute to collapse
Because your favorite chair is calling, “Curl up and relax!”
Because you want to sit with a good book and good cheese
Not because it counts as self-care, but just because it’s what you need
I hope my poems about cheese are a little reminder to look for little bits of light and joy and silliness in life

Made from milk of sheep
Called the “Cheese of Kings”
Perfect for savory pie
Tangy taste puts a tear in the eye
Some can handle being told
An important ingredient is mold
They’ll shrug and go for more
It’s that crumbly Roquefort

Flying in a Friday fantasy
Eating eighteen kinds of cheese
Trying to taste each moment of time
As an awesome bite – amazing, divine
